I went with the theme “Close-up” because I wanted to explore different textures and how things look when zoomed in. While I was shooting the clips, the close-up perspective reminded me of what it feels like when I’m zoning out. Everything looks so much bigger, and it also changes back and forth from super clear to blurry. So I wanted to experiment with my phone’s camera to see if I could express that effect. I decided to go with taking clips of some objects that I use daily on my desk, for they’re the things that I often stare at whenever I zone out. Also because it’s more related to the “piece taken from my daily life “ feeling that I wanted.
I started with a scene of me writing homework, then looking around. I connected a close-up scene of my fabric pencil case with the previous scene by adding a blinking effect. Afterwards, there’s this series of clips of close-up shots of various things. Some of them are very clear and sharp, while the others are blurry. To show what everything looks like when I’m staring blankly. I was thinking about if I should add some voiceover of what is in my mind when I’m staring at these objects. But I decided not to because it feels a bit redundant.
