Project 4 | Martha Rosler, The Bowery in two inadequate descriptive systems

I tried to check out this book on Monday, But it was unfortunately borrowed by someone else at the moment. Had to wait for a couple days till I actually got the book.

I really liked the concept of this book, and especially the way  the text was distributed throughout the whole photo book. To be honest the pictures alone didn't attract me that much, but when combined with the text plus knowing the concept behind it really made a big boost for the overall affect.

My favorite is definitely this page with the text "dead soldiers" and "dead marines". It just really hit me. I wanna say it reminded me of the situations of many old soldiers but the environment I grew up in is very different. All I know about the situations in Northern America is just some shallow and potentially very biased information I got from the internet. Meaning I don't think I know enough to make any comments about it. Anywaaays,I'm rambling now. I just really like this page and that's all that matters:)

More importantly, I got some inspiration when I was looking at some receipts that are just sitting on my table. I was thinking maybe I can kinda combine the way text was designed in this book with a receipt or a menu? like fill it up with words I find in a dictionary that are related to my book. Or just using the form of a receipt\menu in general.
